Lunch at Aone Shirakami Twelve Lakes - Spectacular view of Japan Canyon - Stroll around Aoike, a cobalt blue pond

Bus transfer to Twelve Lakes for lunch.

After lunch, we will view the scenic "Japan Canyon," reminiscent of the Grand Canyon in the U.S., from the car window, and take a walk around the Blue Pond area of Lake Juyoniko.

What are the Twelve Lakes?

The Twelve Lakes are a group of 33 lakes and marshes surrounded by beech forests in the western Shirakami Mountains, and are said to have been created by a landslide caused by a major earthquake in 1704.

Especially famous is "Aoike," a bright cobalt blue pond. A large rotting beech tree crosses the water, and the clear blue surface of the lake, as if ink or paint had been poured over it, is mysterious, even though it is so transparent that fallen trees can be seen at the bottom of the pond. The spring water from Boiling Pot Pond, with its similarly beautiful blue lake water, has been selected as one of Aomori Prefecture's best waters.

What is Japan Canyon?

The white rock cliffs in the Twelve Lakes area are the "Japan Canyon. The name "Japan Canyon" was given to this unique scenic spot, which is reminiscent of the Grand Canyon in the United States, with its soaring white tuff rock cliffs.

Board the Ono Line again from Fukaura Station.

Enjoy the Gonosen train window to Senjidashiki Station again.

After enjoying the spectacular view, transfer to a bus from Senjyobashiki Station to Morioka Station.

Departing from Morioka Station at 8:00 a.m. and arriving at Morioka Station (West Exit) around 8:00 p.m., this one-day tour allows you to enjoy the overwhelmingly beautiful nature of Aomori - Akita in a 12-hour period.
