This journey along part of the Michinoku Shiokaze Trail will be a special experience, allowing you to feel the breath of nature and the memories of people's lives firsthand.
What is the Michinoku Shiokaze Trail?
The Michinoku Shiokaze Trail winds its way along the Pacific coast from Hachinohe City, Aomori Prefecture to Soma City, Fukushima Prefecture.
The charm of this long trail lies in its varied coastal scenery.
The scenery of Sanriku, with its precipitous cliffs, rias coastline, and world-class fishing grounds, which look different as you walk along, will captivate the hearts of visitors.
This tour will visit the Miyako area, which is one of the most popular areas on this trail.
Although there are some ascents and descents that require physical strength, the course is designed to allow visitors to experience the rich blessings of nature and its sometimes harsh forces.
From Morioka to Jodogahama, Encountering Sanriku's Spectacular Views
Morning: Departure from Morioka Station
Although the bus departs early in the morning, the view of Iwate from the bus window will raise your expectations for the adventure that is about to begin.
Once you arrive in Miyako after a bus trip of a little over two hours from Morioka Station, you will take another local bus to Jodogahama.
Morning: Arrival at Jodogahama Visitor Center
After getting off the bus, finally go to the "Jodogahama Visitor Center," the entrance to the trail.
From here, you will begin your journey to step on the Sanriku land with your own feet.
Afternoon: Walking along the Michinoku Shiokaze Trail
Jodogahama: One of the most beautiful spots in Sanriku
Jodogahama, the most beautiful spot on the Sanriku Coast and designated as a national scenic beauty spot, is a scenic spot that has been described as "like the Pure Land of Paradise" for its beauty.
The contrast between the forest of strange white meteorite rocks, the blue sea, and the green pine forests is stunning.
Take your time and enjoy the spectacular view that seems to have been created by the brush of a landscape painter.
Squirting Hole: An amazing show created by nature
Proceeding north from Jodogahama, you will arrive at the "Shiobuki-ana", a national natural monument and a Sanriku Geopark geosite.
The "Siofuki-ana" is a sea cave, which is a hole at the top of a cave formed by wave erosion, where seawater spurts out up to 30 meters high during heavy waves.
If you are lucky, you may witness this show of nature.
Evening: Arrive at Vacation Village Rikuchu Miyako
After a day of adventure, you will arrive at the Holiday Village Rikuchu Miyako, the final destination of this course.
From the vacation village Rikuchu Miyako, take a local bus, and from Miyako Station, change to the "106 Express Bus" to return to Morioka Station, your starting point.

- This ticket is a product in which you will travel and walk the trails on your own (unlike tour products organized by travel agencies, which are accompanied by a tour guide or escort).
- This ticket is not available during the following year-end and New Year's holidays and Bon vacation periods due to the peak season for 106 express and express buses.
