Travel Point 1: Shirasu rice bowl
In Yuriage, shirasu fishing began in earnest in July 2017, making it the northernmost shirasu fishing ground in Japan. During the fishing season from July to November, Yuriage-grown shirasu can be enjoyed as sashimi or in bowls at restaurants in the city. It is also processed into kama-age and tsukudani (food boiled in soy sauce and sugar) by a seafood processing company and sold in the city.
Travel Point #2: Kinjeshisui-jinja Shrine
Kinjeshisui-jinja Shrine holds a flower festival every May in conjunction with the Spring Festival. The shrine grounds are decorated with 1,000 buttons of about 100 varieties and the 300-year-old wisteria trellis "Kuryu no wisteria". Since ancient times, the shrine has been dedicated to the god of water and has been worshipped by many people as a god of prosperity, financial fortune, good luck, and maritime safety.
Travel Point 3: Higaki Strawberries
Higaki strawberries are sweet and sour, juicy and fresh, and are used for business purposes by very famous hotels and long-established Japanese confectionery stores because of their uniform shape and beautiful appearance.
